I use AI sparingly but strategically in my business. My goals with AI are to challenge my own thinking, extrapolate on ideas, and increase efficiency with certain processes.
If you've found your way to this page, there's a good chance you're already familiar with my ongoing Substack series documenting my experience with AI, including the ethical questions it raises. While a summary is below, that post goes into much more detail and is updated regularly.
On Disclosure:
I believe you deserve to know when AI has touched the work I produce. My commitment is to always disclose when AI has played a meaningful role in something I've created or delivered. If you ever have questions about a specific piece of work, just ask.
The Tools I Use:
Claude AI for ideation and task execution
Descript for audio/video editing
✅ How I'm currently using AI:
To challenge and expand my thinking: I use Claude's Project feature to research topics more deeply, pressure-test ideas, and expand my thinking beyond my own perspective.
In my consulting work: I use AI to help research, prepare, and organize my client projects. This is always disclosed to my clients.
For personal productivity: I use Claude's Project and Cowork features for things like habit tracking, health coaching, and scheduling. You can read about exactly how I do this in my Substack series.
To help my clients use AI more intentionally: part of my consulting work now includes helping small business owners understand and implement AI tools in ways that align with their own values.
🚫 How I'm not using AI:
I still write: My emails, Substack/Blog posts, digital products, social media and all other content are written by me. This is one of my favorite parts of my job.
I don't use AI to replace the expertise I've built over 15 years. Strategic recommendations, business advice, and systems consulting come from my experience.
I don't input client data, private information, or sensitive business details into AI tools without explicit conversation and consent.
On the bigger picture:
I'm aware of concerns surrounding AI — labor displacement, data sourcing, environmental impact, and the concentration of power in a small number of companies are all real and serious issues. My decision to use AI actively is not an endorsement of all forms or uses of AI. It's a deliberate choice to stay inside a conversation I think needs more ethical, informed voices in it.
As AI continues to evolve, so will this page and my personal guidelines.
If you're curious about my full personal AI guidelines or the ethical framework behind them, you can find it on Substack.
